Making Money For Good

Burt's Bees is a company that sells beauty and body products. They partnered with Habitat for humanity to built Eco- friendly homes. In 2007 they established the "The Burt's Bees Greater Good Foundation" which is funded by percentages of their own sales. Their goal is “to help empower non-profit initiatives whose efforts resonate with our own mission, particularly in the areas of natural health and well-being, the environment and social responsibility.” They are big on keeping their employees and customers happy. They seem to be big on communication and staying natural,  "We like a little yoga with lunch. We speak our minds. We help our neighbors. In short, we practice what we preach."

My Demographics

Being in the millennial generation, some of these traits apply to me. One of the ones that stuck out the most to me was the "They're in no hurry" traits, which is saying the person takes longer to find themselves. This applies to me because lately I've been confused to as what i like or don't like. The " They want more than $$" trait also applies to me. I want to work when i can or when I'm ready, not when I'm forced. "They're falling behind" is another that relates to me. Even though this generation has better technology and better schooling, school is still hard for me. For me to learn, i have to do it hands on or it has to be entertaining to me.

Boston Consulting Group- Video Games

After doing my research, i have determined that PC is the dog, Nintendo is the question mark, Microsoft as the cash cow and Sony as the star.

Sony is coming out with a virtual reality headset called the Morpheus VR. "Virtual reality is coming to video gaming early next year, and Sony has led the way at E3 with demos and trailers for many of its Morpheus VR headset games." http://www.informationweek.com/it-life/e3-8-hot-video-game-trends/d/d-id/1320899?image_number=2. This is big news because Sony is already one of the biggest names in the industry right now and if they can pull off virtual gaming and be the first to succeed this could bring in a lot of money for them.

Microsoft is also coming out with a virtual headset called the HoloLens. This seems like a really cool idea because unlike altering your whole world like the Morpheus VR does, this headset displays 3D images in your actual environment. Which means you see your world as well as the altered world you're creating.

Nintendo is in the question mark zone because they are trying to make a come back with a mobile Mario game. Seems like a good move for them to get with the trends of mobile device games while keeping there original content. "Nintendo seems to have woken up from the dead. As part of its plan to get into mobile gaming, it seems to have finally started innovating after a fallow period."http://www.informationweek.com/it-life/e3-8-hot-video-game-trends/d/d-id/1320899?image_number=6

PC is definitely the dog. PC games are like a dying breed of games only selective people deal with. Aside from World of Warcraft i dont think PC is making big news.

Great Customer Service

A great experience I have had recently was with the concession stand staff at the AMC Town Square 18 movie theatre. I had my friend Kyson, Darien, Chase and Zoey stand in line and buy me a Dasani water bottle while I went and found us a seat in the movie theatre. After I sat down and got comfortable, I realized I wanted an ICEE instead of Dasani water. I sat there thinking that if I went up and asked to exchange the drink that it would cause a big scene and hold up the line. After about 2 minutes of going back and forth with myself, I decide to go and ask to exchange the water bottle. I walk up and the line isn’t long so I go to one of the workers and ask her if I can exchange the drink and pay the difference for the other. She told me it can be done but I would have to wait a few minutes for the manager to come and override the transaction. A few minutes go by and the manger comes and exchanges the drinks. I apologized for the inconvenience and the lady told me it was no problem and to come back if I needed anything. It felt as if I could ask them for anything and they would help me without any problems.
